Hi, I’m Chris Jay Sorensen, a multidisciplinary creative, graphic designer, and natural foods industry professional based in Minneapolis.
Through my freelance studio, CJSoren Design, I offer creative services that span packaging, branding, large-format signage, web design, and audio production. For 15+ years, I’ve helped organizations of all sizes, from co-ops and small businesses to property managers and event planners, translate their ideas into powerful visual and auditory experiences.
I’m a creative problem-solver with a practical mindset. My hands-on retail experience means I understand how design works in real spaces and real markets, not just on screen. I’ve designed store layouts, built fixtures, managed resets, installed vinyl, and produced signage that meets both form and function.
If you're looking for a creative partner who brings both vision and execution to the table, let’s connect. Find me on LinkedIn or send me a message on my contact page.
Let’s make something that matters!
By day, I serve as the Purchasing Operations Manager at INFRA (Independent Natural Food Retailers Association), where I lead national purchasing programs, develop merchandising strategies, and help independent retailers thrive. I bring over a decade of experience in natural foods retail, with a deep understanding of how systems, design, and storytelling come together to support mission-driven businesses.
I’m also the co-host of “The Buyer’s Desk” podcast, where I explore trends, innovations, and shared challenges in the world of independent natural food retail.
Outside of work, you’ll find me making music, watching Star Trek, reading thought provoking work from Brené Brown, Adam Grant, Simon Sinek and Malcolm Gladwell, or walking the trails of Minnesota with my wife Cari Jo and our two pit bull mixes, Nubia and Kiya who love going for rides in the car!
